After 13 years of auditioning for “The Voice”, I got a callback in October 2025 pertaining to Season 30. It seemed like maybe, just maybe, my time had finally come.
I expressed to the Lord, however, that I would not quit my 15-year corporate job or leave my 20-year old (geriatric) cat in order to partake in the adventure, which would obviously involve travelling. I’m 55 years old now, so responsibility does tend to outweigh spontaneity these days.
Makana passed away in January. Then, due to workforce reduction, I lost my corporate job in February. Lord, could it be my time…finally?
I took a few steps into the preliminary screening process, but then, the door closed. I later learned that I was amidst the producer’s “deliberations” for a few months, so I could appreciate that. My heart was broken, though, over the official NO.
I am not an entertainer, but singing professionally has been one of my dreams for 30 years now. I really wanted to get on that stage – even if no chairs turned, even if I would have been sent home immediately after the Blinds.
But God always has a plan, regardless of whether we agree with or understand how He is navigating our circumstances. His plans and His timing are always better than ours!
Nearly 20 years ago, I was born again (see John 3:1-8). The Lord has performed a life-altering miracle in my heart, mind, and soul since that day, but let me take you back to the beginning.
Seeds of Codependency were planted in the soil of my heart, mind, and soul when I was a child, long before I had any knowledge of that big C word. Those seeds were watered by my natural environment, developing unhealthy roots of toxic people pleasing, unbalanced approval seeking, and poor (sometimes non-existent) boundaries in the majority of my relationships. Consequently, my identity was rooted in chronic Codependency.
As a result of those unhealthy roots, I entertained an ungodly emotional soul tie with a married man, an addiction to alcohol, and confusion over my sexuality – amongst many other less dramatic boundaries issues. I was raised in church, but I was rooted in Codependency. Consequently, Christ did not reign in my early life and relationships. Codependency did.
In 2010, the Lord lead me to begin studying the subject of Codependency. There began my personal healing, renewal, and transformation process in Him.
After 15 years of diligent, committed study on the subject of Codependency, I have experienced deep heart cultivation because of Jesus (although I am still a work-in-progress, as we all are!). Through this study, He has equipped and called me to assist others with identifying their own Codependent patterns for the purpose of personal transformation in Him.
In this recent career shift, He began to lead me toward the Life Coaching space. I am a former Secondary Education teacher, but I have done some level of training on every job I have ever had. In this season, He is leading me into the Coaching space.
By design, He caused me to cross paths with Paul Dabdoub’s Life Coach Training Institute in May. I became certified after completing over 40 hours of training and coursework. I will continue my studies under Paul as his coaching ministry experiences further growth.
My singing dream? I will audition again when the opportunity presents itself. I don’t know if I will ever get another callback from anyone, but I’m not giving up.
What I do know – at this moment in time – is that our amazing Heavenly Father has masterfully reignited the teaching gift in me for such a time as this. I am excited to take these next steps into Life Coaching.
Wherever you are on your journey, I look forward to assisting you with identifying Codependent patterns so that you may experience heart transformation that only Christ can bring!
Welcome to Christ Over Codependency Coaching. I’m glad you’re here.
Let’s connect. Let’s explore. And, hey, let’s sing, too!
